Kishore Kunal IPS Early Life and Education
Kishore Kunal was born on 10 August 1950 to a Bhumihar Brahmin family in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. His early education was in his hometown, Balraj village. He studied at Patna University and graduated with a degree in History and Sanskrit in 1970. During his time there, he met many renowned scholars such as R.S. Sharma and D.N. Yes.
Police Career
In 1972, Kishore Kunal joined the Indian Police Service and began his career in the Gujarat cadre. His first job was Superintendent of Police, Anand. In 1978, he was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad. His dedication and commitment was evident as he continued to climb the career ladder.
Key Roles and Contributions
After completing his M.A. in 1983, Kishore Kunal was appointed Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna. One of his most notable roles was as Officer on Special Duty (Ayodhya) under Chief Minister V. P. Singh. In this capacity he acted as an intermediary between the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Babri Masjid Action Committee, a position he held during the tenures of Chandra Sekhar and P. Martin. V. Narasimha Rao.
Post Retirement Activities
Kishore Kunal took voluntary retirement from IPS in 2001. After retirement, he continued to be associated with the company in various capacities. He was the Chairman of the Bihar State Board of Religious Trusts and Secretary of the Mahavir Temple Trust, Patna. His efforts to improve healthcare for the poor were evident through his association with the Mahavir Arogya Sansthan. He also founded the Gyan Niketan School in Patna.
