Marco Rubio Biography: As Donald Trump puts together his team for his return to the presidency, Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s name has emerged as a possible candidate for Secretary of State. If approved, Rubio would be the first Latino to serve as Secretary of State in the United States. He is known for his tough stance on China and Iran, but has expressed a positive view of India.
Rubio was one of Trump’s rivals for the Republican presidential nomination in the 2016 US presidential election. At the time, the two exchanged attacks and insults with each other, but their relationship has since improved. This time, Rubio was also in the running for Trump’s running mate.

Marco Rubio (53 years old) is a third-time senator from Florida. He has held several high-ranking government positions, including vice chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence and ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committee.
Rubio was born in Miami to Cuban immigrants and later became a U.S. citizen. His father worked as a banquet bartender and his mother worked as a maid in hotels and factories.

During his 2016 presidential run, Rubio used his humble origins to mock billionaire Trump. As reported by the NYT, he accused President Trump of hiring immigrants instead of Americans, saying, “My mother was a hotel maid. And instead of hiring Americans like her, he recruited more than 1,000 people from around the world to fill these jobs.” In the same debate, he also said, “You know where Donald Trump would have gone if he hadn’t inherited $200 million.” Would that be the case now?

Rubio was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010. He previously served as a city councilman for West Miami and as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. He is also an attorney.
